Straight answers

▸Is this legal advice?

No — and we will never pretend otherwise. ContractShield is an informational tool: we flag risky clauses and suggest wording, with citations to public legal resources. For your specific situation, consult a licensed attorney. Our full disclaimer lives on every report.

▸Where do the findings come from?

A knowledge base of the traps that most often hurt U.S. freelancers — built from public resources like Nolo guides, U.S. Copyright Office transfer rules, state statutes, and state-court self-help materials. Every finding cites its source type so you can verify it yourself.

▸Do you keep my contracts?

No. Contracts are processed in memory and deleted immediately after the review completes. We store only the structured findings (the risk list), never the original text — and you can ask us to delete those too.

▸What counts as a "trap"?

Anything that can cost you money, time, or ownership of your work: missing payment deadlines, IP transferring before payment, unlimited revisions, one-sided indemnification, payment contingent on "satisfaction", far-away venues, and more.

▸What if I already signed and the client is not paying?

Shield Pro includes a 3-stage demand letter generator — friendly reminder, formal demand, final notice — built deliberately conservative: no interest claims (avoids state usury issues), generic court references, restrained tone. Escalate politely, document everything.

ContractShield is an informational tool, not a law firm. Reports are AI-generated, do not constitute legal advice, and create no attorney–client relationship. Full disclaimer & privacy policy.
